Throwback Thursdays – Fashion Edition – Marlon Brando’s White T-Shirt

Ah,  the white t-shirt.  No matter where you live, how old you are or what fashion style you have, most of us, at some point, have had a “fashion run-in” with the white t-shirt.  It’s practically inescapable!  Although naturally simplistic, the white tee isn’t  as easy to pull off as one might think.  Remember that trend not long ago where many fashionably misguided gentlemen had a brilliant idea to wear these absurdly gigantic and enormously long, thin white t-shirts and tanks?  If you don’t , you’ve just avoided many years trying to heal in fashion therapy! But, for those of us that… um, do remember… there’s always Mr. Brando to turn to and guide us back to good taste in white t-shirts 🙂  My goodness.  This man really knows how to wear a simple white tee doesn’t he? In fact, it was practically made for him!  Masculine. Effortless.  Simple. Handsome. Cool.  That’s the University of Marlon Brando Fashion and I (for one) am ready to take my first course.  Yes, my bow ties, classes at the Gentlemen’s Academy start soon. Enroll today…and hurry!

Professor Brando covers men’s “fashion basics” in his first lecture for the Gentlemen’s Style Academy below. Enjoy!

Marlon Brando was actually quite the revolutionary with his white t-shirts!

At the time, undershirts were seen as underwear and were destined to be kept private; so when he wore a white t-shirt with no shirt over it for the first time it was a big, let’s say, debate… 🙂
