This is me…

One day my co-worker approached me and upon looking at my work attire exclaimed, “there! That’s it. This is the look that I’m going for. I just need to take a picture of you so I can show the salesperson at the clothing store…this is what I want”. My co-worker is not into fashion. By his own admission, there are several more important things or items that deserve to receive a portion of his hard-earned paycheck. I, on the other hand, have always loved fashion and although I’m no expert, I’m more than willing to spend a generous sum (when appropriate) and devote a lot of time to fashion.  Probably much more than my colleague.

Although it doesn’t look like it, my co-worker and I actually have a lot in common. We both want to look great in clothes and really, to be honest, what guy doesn’t? Where we differ is the amount of time (and sometimes money) it takes to achieve the look.  Much to his surprise, I didn’t spend a lot of money on my outfit that day.  But I will confess that I did my fair share of research over a considerable amount of time in order to achieve and recreate (to a certain degree) the same expensive and polished look that menswear designers send down the runway each season.  My colleague didn’t see all this “behind-the-scenes” stuff. All he saw was a final product that appealed to him and was easily accessible. No extra work or time was needed. That is a key point right there. I ‘ve talked to a lot of guys who may not necessarily be men who have their finger on the pulse of the fashion world, but rather fall into the category of your everyday dude. They want to look good in clothes but are either not willing to devote the time it takes to achieve that goal or simply really don’t have the time. I’m sure this sounds like either you or at the very least, someone you know. That’s where I come in and it’s why I started the Gentlemen’s Style Academy.

You know, it wasn’t that long ago that I found myself fresh out of college with a job (thankfully) that was in an office environment. I finally had an excuse to go out and buy appropriate office attire, but had little money to do it. It forced me to come up with creative ways to still achieve the look and quality I wanted…and still eat in the process! :).

Now, although I love clothes, I’m still very much a guy and let’s face it, we shop and view fashion differently than our fabulous female counterparts. So join me, as I travel to an interesting and elusive destination known as the fashion world. Armed with a realistic perspective, benefit from my fashion successes and learn from my fashion mistakes.

If you could care less about fashion, but still want to look good without the hassle of time and effort (and money)? This blog is for you!

If you love, love, love fashion like there is no tomorrow? This blog is for you.

As I always say, spend as little or as much time and money on fashion and still look great either way!

I hope you enjoy this blog and will visit often. Until next time my fellow bow ties, I bid adieu. #bowtienation

Hey! I wasn’t sure how to contact you so I’m just going to write this here (feel free to delete it afterwards haha). When leave a comment on my blog and put the link to your blog it never actually opens to your blog because its missing the .wordpress.com and I just wanted to let you know so that more people will actually be able to click and be sent to your site 🙂 so instead or leaving it as thegentlemenstyleacademy.com it should be thegentlemenstyleacademy.wordpress.com (or at least thats the only way its been working for me). I just wanted to give you a heads up because you have a great blog and I want to be sure people can click on it 🙂
